ABOUT ME
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University (B.A., honors, psychology) and Stanford Law School (Juris Doctor).
For more than seven years, I practiced law as a corporate litigator at
two major international law firms in New York City and in Paris,
France. As much as I enjoyed practicing law, I always knew that writing
was my true passion. And so, taking a deep breath, I packed away my
legal dictionaries, hung up my corporate suits, and stepped forward into
an exciting new career.
My legal training uniquely prepared me for a career as a professional writer. As a litigator, I learned that everything – everything – has a story that can be made compelling. Lawyers are taught to probe deeply into a subject to unearth engaging details and nuances that most people overlook. We are taught to cull facts, figures, and data from all appropriate sources to craft an effective narrative. Above all, we are taught to write in a clear, persuasive style.
These skills have proved invaluable in my writing career. Clients love it. But what I love is that as a writer, I get to indulge my creative side and plunge into many different worlds.
Since becoming a freelance writer in 2006, I've written on a range of subjects but particularly enjoy topics that help people to live healthier, wealthier and more pleasurable lives. My work has appeared in publications such as International Living, The Writer, German Life, Renaissance, History Magazine, Forbes.com, Bankrate.com, LegalZoom.com, Venere.com, and more. As a copywriter, I primarily write for businesses that bring health, wealth or pleasure to others; my clients range from travel agencies to health websites to cooking schools. For these clients, I've drafted website content, newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and other marketing and informational copy. I've also edited writings of every variety from PhD dissertations to wine auction catalogs.
In addition to writing for clients, I maintain two blogs: “The Expat Freelancer,” in which I discuss the writing life from the perspective of an expatriate, and “Petit Paris” which features things to do with kids in and around Paris.
